1. 5-second rule
For an immediate change, you should stop overthinking and just countdown from five, then begin. let's take an example.
You have a task or anything to be done but you are procrastinating for so long, to stick to your work just start to count from 5 to 1. Countdown from 5 to 1 and as you reach on 1 and boom get up and stop thinking just take an action. Start your task immediately and do not wait for the right time.
2. Take a baby step
When you start to look too far, any task or project may seem impossible. You start to think that it's too difficult for me. For example, you want to get into shape, you want to write a poem or a book, you want to run a business or maybe you want to improve your communication skills and your social life, these things may seem quite difficult to start. The only thing you need to do is "take a baby step" start with one. like if you want to get into the shape, start by doing one push up. You want to write a book, just start with one sentence skills by one "meetup". Don't think too much just start because overthinking may lead to procrastination.
3. Set deadlines
So you have decided to set a deadline to accomplish your task or your goals huh...? That's really a good thing, but did that really worked for you?
let's take an example to understand it in a better way.
you have decided to lose 4 pounds by the next month and guess what? next month has started but you did not lose a single pound.
why did not you achieve that goal, have you realized that?
after some research, I come to know that there are two types of deadlines.
1. deadline that you set for yourself
2. deadline that someone set for you like your boss or your college professor
let's take another example if you do not pay your rent or your college fees, you may kick out of your college or from your room. in this type of situation, you don't dare to procrastinate and this is the reason why we do all these things on time. the same thing goes with your self-set deadline. to avoid delay you have to train your mind in such a way that if you do not reach on your self-deadline then you are going to face big trouble. you should also reward yourself after accomplishing the task.
4. divide your task and accomplish it one by one.
You have a task to complete but do not have any idea from where to start what to do first. Keep in mind one thing task that seems difficult to you, divide those task into sub-part and now pick every task one by one, this method will help you to complete every task in an easy way. plus, it will give you the happiness of achieving those tiny goals. always remember, the journey of hundred miles just begins with a single step.
5. Get a productive buddy
Friends are really matters in our life, your life can become super boring without friends but most importantly they should be productive. If your friends are more lazy, demotivated and unproductive than you, so in this situation better you pick a productive buddy who motivates you, pushes you and supports you in your life. with a productive buddy, you learn from each other, you feel the competitiveness, with whom you talk regularly, and you always ask each other about your goals and progress. well it is not necessary for both of you to have the same goal.
